In September, the ToDo team attended the Odoo Experience, the main annual event for everyone who works with this ERP system. We had the opportunity to hear about updates firsthand from the development team and partners who implement the system in different countries and industries.
After returning from Brussels, we gathered the main things you should know about the new version of Odoo, its opportunities for Ukrainian business, and the trends that will determine the development of ERP systems in the coming years.
A new level of convenience
Odoo 19 made even more intuitive. The system has become more flexible in the little things that have a big impact on daily work:
- You can create new tasks directly from the [My Tasks] list - even without a context or project.
- You can reschedule actions for today, tomorrow, or next week with just one click.
- Kanban now has a compact [Add Step] button to help you save space on the screen.
- When grouping data in lists, you can now edit fields or create new groups right away.
- Drag & drop support in the Gantt view has become even more convenient: you can cancel movements, see dates while you're moving, and hide non-working hours.
- In the mobile version, the buttons have become more compact, and lists can be updated with a simple swipe down.
It may seem like a small thing, but it reduces the number of clicks and saves the team time.
Artificial intelligence is now at the heart of Odoo
AI is no longer just "next door" but is directly integrated into workflows.
Odoo 19 allows:
- Use an AI agent that analyzes your own business data.
- Search for information in CRM or projects in "human language" - for example, [show trades with a margin of more than 30% in August].
- Generate emails or summaries of discussions using the [Ask AI] button.
- Use the contents of files (PDF, Excel) to automatically fill in fields in the system.
- Connect your own AI accounts (for example, Gemini or OpenAI).
This means that Odoo doesn't just store data - it helps you think faster.
New opportunities for analytics and accounting
For finance teams Odoo 19 - a real upgrade.
- Consolidated financial reports have been introduced - balance sheet, P&L, and trial balance can now be combined into one document.
- Analytical budgets are available even without the Procurement module.
- The system automatically offers income or expense accounts depending on the type of document.
- OCR for bank statements has become more accurate and allows you to manually correct data.
- Support for ISO20022 and KYC for international payments.
- Overdue bill reminders have been added, even via WhatsApp.
- Reporting has become more visual: in [Actions], you can open the desired date and see the balances for that date.
With these updates, accounting in Odoo becomes not just a tool for reporting, but a center for managing financial decisions.
Technical speed and stability
Odoo developers have put a huge emphasis on performance. Now:
- the interface loads faster due to caching of data and translations;
- you can work even until the page is fully loaded;
- formatting of dates, lists, and menus has become more clear and stable;
- in numeric fields, the following operators are supported: +=, -=, * - for mass editing.
For large teams, this means minus a few seconds for each action, which turns into dozens of hours over the course of a year.
Why it is important for Ukrainian business
Odoo 19 received sectoral modules for even more businesses: bakeries, beverage distributors, fitness studios, cleaning services, beauty salons, real estate companies, campgrounds, catering, entertainment centers, etc.
This means that even a specific business can now get a ready-made process structure without long customizations.
Odoo 19 allows you to:
- speed up the launch of new projects and products;
- centralize data and workflows;
- make business more flexible and transparent, even in unstable market conditions;
- optimize costs and increase team efficiency.
This is especially true for Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses that want to compete internationally by implementing modern digital tools.
